Irish Soda Bread

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  

 Irish Soda Bread

Try this festive bread as part of your St. Patrick's Day this year!

Combine these dry ingredients in a large bowl:
  •  3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt


In a separate smaller bowl:
  • beat 2 eggs, then
  • mix in 1 pint of sour cream
Add the egg mixture into the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon until you need to knead it with your hands.

When well-combined, add in:
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 tablespoon caraway seeds (optional)


Shape into a round mound, place on a lightly floured piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet and lightly slice an "x" across the top. 

Bake for 45-50 minutes at 350 degrees.

When slightly cooled, slice and enjoy.
